Remote lockout, means never having to fumble for the Turnkey again!!

Following on from yesterdays post and the parcel from Deutsche Post, I got home from work and immediately set about converting my trusty (cheap as chips) Rockshox Recon Gold TK's to RL's (with motion control!)  I had in the toolbox a multi faceted 24mm socket, but having read the horror stories of Fox forks and people rounding off the edges of the damper nut, I was just a bit hesitant.  Needless to say, on inspection, it appears that Rockshox has kindly addressed the problem and the damper nut profile is considerably higher, meaning it was a dawdle to remove the factory damper...bonus.  When I buy something from EBay which is at least second hand, and you've asked the seller "will that work with x,y & z" and of course they've responded with "yes, yep, sure, of course".  You still get the feeling that the thing won't work!. Anyway, old damper in left hand, replacement in right hand, compared the two for length thread count etc and they seemed to be identical in proportions.  I'd tested the remote function prior and it was 100%.  All that was left to do was dab a bit of fork oil onto the rubber seals and wiggle the replacement damper et al into the stanchion.  10 minutes later, all re-assembled, my old poplock connected we've a working remote lockout for the front end of the bike.

The downside to these forks is that they are heavy brutes, and with the added few grams come in at a hefty 1920gms, Ouch!!  I've a set of Reba's on the Anthem which I could transplant to lighten the load by around 300gms

We'll see :)
